Welcome to the Soy Style: Did you KnOH? contest where our featured manufacturer today is Natura.(To enter the contest, all you need to do is read the daily post through July 26, leave a comment, and you’re entered to win $100 each day!) Natura was created out of a desire to create products for a healthier, more abundant lifestyle. Their culture revolves around a commitment to designing excellent sleep systems that aid overall health and well-being.Natura offers a range of products to meet individual preferences for natural, green, or organic mattresses. We featured their products in an earlier post during Better Sleep Month, so we wanted to include some fresh information on Natura for our Soy Style: Did you KnOH? campaign. This time we have a video!
At Natura, healthy sleep is their focus. They offer several resources in the Healthy Sleep Center on their website. While so many of us focus on the design for our bedrooms – paint color, fabrics, accessories – the true test of satisfaction will be the quality of sleep our bedroom provides. Julia helps us think about the longer term benefits of a quality mattress:
Another interesting fact about Natura is how fun and accessible they are online! Their blog provides product information, addresses common questions, and seeks to educate those who want to better understand how their products are made. You can also find Natura on twitter and Facebook. They invite you to join the conversation!
You can also learn more about Natura by visiting one of their retail partners near you. We hope this information has inspired you to think a bit about your sleep habits and healthy living, and we’d love to hear from you. What’s your sleep status? Any questions for Natura?

Today we announced a partnership with HOM Furniture focused on educating their customers about the Serta mattress products they offer that are made with BiOH polyols. Our soy-based ingredients replace a portion of petroleum-based materials traditionally used in bedding foam. Sales associates in the Sleep Express department have been trained on the soy foam products and can address your questions.
The Serta mattress products with soy-based foam available at HOM furniture can help reduce dependency on oil, leave a smaller environmental footprint, and support new uses for soybeans grown by farmers. You will be able to easily identify the products made with BiOH polyols by looking for the labels and hangtags shown below.
If you live near a HOM Furniture store and you’re considering a new mattress purchase or if you’re just interested to feel/learn about products using soy foam with BiOH polyols, stop by Sleep Express at HOM Furniture! We’d love to hear from you about your shopping experience, product questions, and most importantly….sleep experience after purchasing a Serta mattress from HOM!

BIG NEWS! I am quite excited to announce the launch of our Soy Style: Did You KnOH? campaign that will start on Monday July 13 for two weeks… with the opportunity for someone to win $100 each day! Here’s how it works…
A new post will be added each day featuring a furniture or bedding company that uses foam with soy-based BiOH® polyols in their products. We had the opportunity to capture great videos in the showrooms of some fabulous companies in April at the High Point furniture market. You’ll hear about the latest styles, how products are made, what actions they are taking around sustainability, and what makes each company’s story unique. It’ll be a fun way to do some research for your next furniture or mattress purchase!
Now on to the part about winning money…. it’s quite simple. All you’ll need to do to enter the contest each day is to add a comment on our daily blog post about the featured company. We’ll select a favorite comment each day that’s relevant to the information in the post on each manufacturer and that demonstrates insight or creativity. You can share feedback on the styles, provide ideas on new designs, or highlight what you learned about the companies. For a complete list of the official rules, click here.
To recap, here’s how the Soy Style: Did You KnOH? campaign will work… Visit our blog each day July 13- 26, read the daily post, watch the videos, leave a comment with your thoughts, and maybe win some money!

Good news! You’re search for products with soy-based BiOH Polyols just got easier! We are excited to launch our retail locator… making it simpler for you to find products made with BiOH polyols in your area. Products made using soy foams with BiOH polyols help reduce our dependency on petroleum, leave a smaller environmental footprint, and support farmers.
You can search for all products made with BiOH polyols or for a specific product such as furniture or a mattress. (Plus, we’ll be adding more products where BiOH polyols are used soon!) Enter your zip code or city and state. Adjust the mileage radius to your preference. And then… tah-dah!
You get a list of retailers and the manufacturers they carry that use foams with BiOH polyols. You can print this list to take shopping with you or make note of the brands to look for at your favorite retailer. Now I’ll warn you that since we are several steps back in the supply chain, many of the retail sales employees may not be aware of the products that contain soy foam with our BiOH polyol ingredient or why they are a better choice!
This requires a little extra effort on your part to seek out those manufacturers listed and possibly to educate them with our fact sheet. Please know that your efforts wil make a difference! As more people ask for products with BiOH polyols, you will drive change for others to adopt soy-based foams that leave a smaller environmental footprint and save petroleum!
We are just getting started and still adding locations… so check back often! The list isn’t fully complete yet; for example, the Eco Platinum Plus carpet cushion sold through all Home Depot stores is not in the database right now. And we don’t have full retail lists for all of our manufacturing partners yet… so feel free to continue to search our furniture and mattress partner sites directly as well. But we hope this tool helps make your search easier!
I’d love to hear your feedback on the retail locator… and then learn about your shopping experiences at those retailers as you looked for products with BiOH polyols!
PS - Please share this information with anyone you know who may be shopping for furniture or a mattress!

May is Better Sleep month… so there’s no better time to consider what’s under your covers and how a quality mattress can enhance your sleep! One mattress company that is committed to “green, natural, and organic” sleep products as well as education around their products is Natura World. Their blog is filled with interesting posts – from a product guide outlining differences of their 5 unique product lines to a sneak peek at celebrities who sleep on Natura mattresses. (If Halle Berry and Matthew McConaughey love Natura, then I’m in!)
Not only is Natura about education, but they also know how to have fun! Check out the Natura Facebook page for pics of friendly faces from many of their team members and see posts from several fans for their mattress and pet bed giveaway contests.
Some Natura mattresses use Preserve™ foam made in part with soy-based BiOH® polyols. (Another reason to like them!) Given our mutual commitment to education, I was happy to share information for their latest blog post for them to educate on soy foams.

Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) dedicated the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified Habitat home in the Twin Cities metro in Crystal, MN on Saturday April 18. The Green Demonstration Home explored new products and building techniques, further developing the organization’s best practices in green building . These learnings will be shared across the Habitat for Humanity organization to be incorporated in future building projects. Cargill was the lead sponsor for the home. Interested in a tour?
The BiOH® Polyols team was excited about this Habitat project. Many of our team members volunteered at the home last fall. (I think most of us are better suited for our “regular” jobs versus careers in home building!) We partnered with Healthier Choice to donate carpet cushion made with BiOH polyols to Habitat for the home over the winter. And when the new family moves into their new home, they will relax comfortably in their donated furniture from Lane Home Furnishings and sleep well on their new Serta®mattress – all selected from HOM furniture. Thank you to all of our partners for your generosity!
1st LEED certified Habitat for Humanity home in the Twin Cities
Habitat for Humanity had an open house for the public following the dedication ceremony to share resources about green products in the home. We had an exhibit there to share information about products made with BiOH polyols. Here’s a look at our display: What are your thoughts about Habitat for Humanity building green?
The BiOH experience offers resources for you to learn and participate in helping communities and the environment. It is brought to you by the BiOH polyols business — a maker of soy-based ingredients for foam. Please explore our site and then share your thoughts with us. We want to hear from you!
