From the Beginning: What does a Polyol Look Like?
Posted by Jessica, BiOH Polyols Marketing Manager on March 17, 2009
Even though the word polyol rolls off my tongue (or off my fingertips on the keyboard!) more than 20 times a day, it is not the simplest type of product to explain to your friends and family. So I thought it might be helpful to go back to the “show and tell” days of elementary school and share a picture of our BiOH® polyols.

Soy-based BiOH Polyol on Foam
Our soy-based BiOH polyols are typically shipped in bulk via large rail cars, tank trucks, or containers to our foam customers. They then blend BiOH polyols with other ingredients (primarily petroleum-based chemicals) to make the foam. You can see a rough diagram of how foam is made on our B2B site – BiOH.com. The foam products are then cut and shipped to furniture and mattress manufacturers, incorporated into sofas, chairs, and mattresses, sold through retailers, and then brought to their new home. Quite an exciting adventure from BiOH polyol to comfy sofa!
